USS Juneau (LPD-10) is an Austin-class amphibious transport dock ship of the United States Navy. The ship was named after the city of Juneau, Alaska, and also after the famous World War II cruiser USS Juneau (CL-52) that was sunk by Japanese torpedoes during the Naval Battle of Guadalcanal in 1942. USS Juneau (LPD-10) was commissioned on July 12, 1969, and its homeport is currently in San Diego, California. The ship has been involved in numerous missions and operations, including the Vietnam War, Operation Desert Shield, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and humanitarian missions in Papua New Guinea and the Philippines. The ship has a crew of around 22 officers, 391 enlisted personnel, and can carry up to 900 Marines and their equipment.
